Upside
Blue is: Cyndi
Kennedy: From the age of 16, with her acting debut as a host of
"You Can't Do That on Television", performing has always been
Cyndi's favourite pastime. She vividly recalls feeling the passion of
Jazz Blues at age 8 - and knowing it was in her blood. Cyndi has since
sung Bluegrass, Blues and Jazz, played several different instruments
and written original songs. For her, it has always been about feel for
the history, culture and passion of the music. Cyndi is a also a member of the Capital Vox Jazz Choir. Rick
Woyiwada: When most kids his age in his Manitoba hometown were earning
their spending money delivering newspapers, a 14-year-old Rick, with
his classical piano training, was already paying his dues playing keyboards
in established Rhythm and Blues bands. He later branched out into composing
and recording. Now, even after a few decades and diversions (like music
school, radio, and law school) his passion for performing has not waned
- he expresses his knowledge and experience of a wide variety of musical
genres through the innovative keyboard stylings he brings to Upside
Blue. Ivan
Matte: Ivan believes it inevitable, as a result of the influence
of his extended talented family, that music would be a constant and
important part of his life. Throughout the 60's, 70's and 80's Ivan
was primarily a guitar player in various local rock, blues and country
bands including the much beloved Beatles spirit band, "The Shooz". In
the early 1990's he switched to bass, initially electric, then acoustic
followed by acoustic upright. Over the last ten years he has focused
primarily on playing within various jazz combos. |
